Currently my main inspiration comes from the landscape and the garbage discarded in it. I have selected certain remnants which I run across most often as a source material for these works. Objects such as cups and cardboard seem to fit best into the idea of transformed everyday container. Through the act of being discarded the equation of function over form is turned on its head and the result of form over function creates engaging public sculptures. Whether the objects being crushed are boxes for shipping or coffee cups, the multi-facetted idea of this object being destroyed becomes the main source of interest.

Through the act of destroying something there is the possibility of creating something new and challenging from it. After working on these for a while I have come to understand my interest lies in the dynamic of the public and the personal and the transformation of the useful to the useless.
